By the time I am 50, it is important to complete a colonoscopy, in which a doctor uses a colonoscope or scope, to look inside my rectum and colon. The colonoscope transmits an image of the lining of the colon so the doctor can examine it for any abnormalities. The colonoscope is inserted through the rectum and advanced to the other end of the large intestine. This procedure can show irritated and swollen tissue, ulcers, polyps, and mainly detect colorectal cancer.
