Anthony Tillman Williams was born in Chicago in 1945, but he would then move to Boston where he would grow up. Williams was a pioneer for the Fusion style of Jazz. When he was 17, he joined the Miles Davis Second Great Quintet. After that, he formed his own trio in 1969 called The Tony Williams Lifetime. He would them die from a heart attack while undergoing gall bladder surgery in 1997.
