Description:
The orbiter is currently gradually lowering itself to a circular 400 km orbit, where it will start optimum atmospheric mapping in April 2018. A key goal is to gain a better understanding of methane (CH4) and other trace gases in the Martian atmosphere that could hold evidence for possible biological activity.
