6h 57min, mar 12, 1938 y - Anschluss
Description:
German forces moved into and occupied Austrian territory, as it was announced that Germany was annexing Austria into greater Germany, in order to "Unite the German People." Austria offered little resistance, and within days, Germany controlled all of Austria. The rest of Europe watched the event with a mixture of fear and hope that Hitler's thirst for land had been sated by the annexation. France in particular was concerned about the Anschluss, with fears another continuing to rise. Similarly, Czechoslovakia was highly concerned that they were next on the list of targets for Germany.
