January 31, 1865: On January 31, 1865 the U.S House of Representatives passed the 13th Amendment to the Constitution. This Amendment was and still is very important to the Constitution, if it hadn't passed the Civil War might've continued much longer and America could have ended up as the Union and the Confederacy.
