Description:
Mariner 9 was Mars' first artificial satellite that caused a month long dust storm after its landing. It was able to map out the entire surface of the planet, showing massive volcanoes and a canyon approximately 4,800 kilometers long. This satellite was the first rover to capture images of Mars' moons, Phobos and Deimos. Mariner 9 returned with an incredible total of 7,329 images.
