jan 29, 1845 - Great Ireland Famine (Zero Hunger)
Description:
The Great Ireland Famine was one of the worst famines in recent history, killing over 1,000,000 Irish people and causing a great period of immigration. Diseases swept through potato plants, the building block of 19th-century Irish cuisine. This sudden void of proper food caused many Irish people to panic and evacuate, fleeing the country in a desperate mass immigration. During this time, the British Government could do nothing but stare as one of it's most prominent nations went down in flames.
