In the Dred Scott decision, the Supreme Court ruled that Dred Scott and all other African Americans had no rights at all. The court ruled that Scott was "property" and that his owner could take him anywhere...therefore, slavery was legal everywhere. The Dred Scott case, was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court on US labor law and constitutional law.
