On Dec 11th 1931, Canada signed the Statute of Westminster. It Granted former colonies full legal freedom except in those areas where they chose to remain subordinate to Britain. This represents progress for Canada, as it meant that Canada was now its own independent country and was able to make its own laws without the British being a part of the decision.
