jan 1, 2005 - Generation Seven

Description:

this was the generation where the 3 main companies started to settle in which one another, as they had all found themselves a console to stick with and they made sure these had features and a whole look that the other ones didn't have

this includes:

Xbox360
PS3
Wii

these showed the way to a ton of competition but it was clear that none of the three consoles would be going out any time soon, and this is where games started to be made for more then one console and where the consoles were also getting exclusive games to make themselves stand out more then the other ones, but the ones to stand out the most in all of this was the Wii which was pretty clear because of the fact it had created its controllers which had sensors on it so that you could swing it about for an action or point it at the screen to click on stuff like on the menus, the other two consoles stayed safe with the regular controllers they had been using for their older consoles.

for the handheld there finally came a competition again between sony, the makers of PS3 and Nintendo who created the Wii

these handhelds were:

DS
PSP

there two were really different from each other as one used small disks for its games which was the PSP and the other, the DS used cartridges like the handheld before it, the game boy, however they were a lot smaller cartridges. in the end the DS looked more promising as it had 2 screens, one for the game and the other was touch screen which gave players more ways to play a game then just staring at a screen and pressing buttons, or it could act like the menu or inventory so players didn't have to press start every time they wanted to change equipment and stuff like that was the way that the DS demonstrated that it was the much better handheld.

one of the games to come out for the DS was Super Mario Kart DS which was more or less another release for the same type of game on the Wii but had still been really good for being a hand held game.
