Description:
The Secret Speech was given by Khrushchev to a closed audience of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
In the speech, Khrushchev criticised Stalin, stating that:
- Cult of Personality
- Abuse of power resulting in mass terror against the general population.
- failed to make defensive preparations before the German invasion in June 1941.
- He condemned Stalin for irrationally deporting entire nationality groups.
- Condemned Stalin for attempting to launch a new purge in 1953 before his death.
