In 1870, the Franco-Prussian started due to conflict between France and Prussia, a war broke out. This was between Prussian and France signalized the rise of German military power and imperialism. War forced France to withdraw its troops from Rome. This caused the Roman Empire to fall; nevertheless, Italy became a united land.
