may 30, 1854 - Kansas-Nebraska Act

Description:

The Kansas-Nebraska Act used popular sovereignty to let the people of Kansas and Nebraska decide whether or not to be slave or a free state. Also the 36/30 lateral line of the Missouri Compromise was repealed. This is because both Kansas and Nebraska were North of this line. Northern abolitionist and southern slave owners rushed to Kansas and Nebraska to vote for what they wanted.
