Description:

The American Government and Public has yet to get any gratification from the war in Japan. The Public was waiting for Japan to get the revenge they deserved for the attacks on Pearl Harbor. General Eisenhower from the US was in contact with weathermen, waiting for the perfect day for Britain and the US to help France regain control. On June 5th Eisenhower’s contacts give him the go for the attack on June 6th. Paratroopers were dropped all over and each given targets. Gliders, jeeps and light tanks also accompanied the various paratroopers. At 6;30 am, the Allies land on the beaches of Normandy, France which was 60 miles of beaches. Germany was not expecting the Allies to land on Normandy and failed to prepare. The surprise is was helped the Allies the most and control of the beach was eventually regained. Omaha beach was the next target for the Allies. Although 60% of the troops were killed, mines blew up continuously the beaches were successfully invaded by the end of June 6th. What this provided for the war was a second front, satisfying Stalin.
