Description:
Hawaii was acquired mainly for strategy because it was located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The United States purchased Hawaii after the Queen of Hawaii was overthrown in 1893. In 1898 under President Mckinley, the republic joined the United States and all were given United States citizenship. Finally in 1959, Hawaii became the fiftieth state in America.
