Summary:
Confederate artillery in Charleston, South Carolina opened a fire on Sumter. It was help by United States. The bombardment set off a four-year war between two sections from United States. Northern and Western states supported the federal government. The other state (southern) had susceeded from the Union and formed an independent government called confederate states of America. The confederate demanded the surrender of Fort Sumter. The Union commander refused and waited for reinforcement. while they dd that confederate fired the first shot.

Confederate Victory- no casualties
Signifiance:
It was the 1st battle of the Civil War
Lincoln's call to arms raised 75,000
Several more southern states seceded
