mar 24, 1765 - Quartering Act
Description:
March 24, 1765. The British encroached on the Americans’ freedom by requiring the colonies to provide barracks for the British troops. This act was expanded in 1774 when Parliament decided that colonies were required to have British troops in their house if needed. In the midst of the tensions between the colonists and Britain, many colonist were upset over this act. The tensions over taxes imposed upon the colonies and the Boston Massacre led people to resent being required to host the British soldiers.
