Description:
On January 1, 1863 Abraham Lincoln put into effect the Emancipation Proclamation. Abraham Lincoln being against slavery wanted to put an end or at least help have less affected by slavery. The proclamation states “all slaves in the rebellious states “shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free.” The proclamation did not free one single slave but was a big turning point contributing to the civil war.
