October 12th 1492. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella agreed to fund his voyage. Columbus’s voyages had not yielded as much profits as the monarchs had hoped. His ships were in poor condition after many voyages and was marooned on Jamaica. Columbus established multiple colonies in the Americas.
