apr 18, 1942 - The Dolittle Raid

Description:

On April 18th, 1942 Lieutenant Colonel James Dolittle led a bombing raid over Tokyo. Originally regular short ranged bombers would not be able to reach the distance. So the long ranged B-25 bombers replaced the short ranged ones on the carriers.
This raid was conducted to raise American morale. America was losing battle after battle to the Japanese, leading to very low morale. This raid would significantly improve American morale during the war, which it did successfully. It is significant because American morale was improved after this raid.
