12 h, sep 11, 1828 y - Election of 1828
Description:
In a rematch of 1824’s Corrupt bargain election, Republican John Quincy Adams was bested by Democrat Andrew Jackson, a “common man” turned war hero. Andrew Jackson earned many votes from the frontier by promising to enforce Indian removal. This election also had a lot of mudslinging, largely aimed at Jackson and notably his wife, who died shortly thereafter.
