Description:
This crisis was caused by the British Navy operation against the Spanish for of Porto Bello. The government wanted to prevent the treasure hauls from coming across the ocean to cut off funds to the receiving end. To paint a clearer picture, about 700 British ships pulled up in front of the Fort to form a blockade and stayed there for months. Not after long did the entire fleet suffer a mass outbreak of Yellow Fever. This ended up killing 4,600.
