jan 1, 1517 - 1517- 95 Theses

Description:

The 95 Theses was a list of wrongdoings committed by the Church created by Martin Luther. Luther wrote down everything the Church was doing that he felt went against the Bible and nailed them to the church door. The 95 Theses is what eventually lead to the creation of Lutheran, which is a branch of the Catholic Church. A main concern that the 95 Theses attacked was the selling of indulgences. Indulgences were sold to people to relieve some of their sin, so that they could make it to heaven after their death. This was significant as it lead to the creation of new branches of the Catholic Church. Before this is was preposterous to go against the Church, but other options gave people more freedom for the hundreds of years to follow. The picture shows Martin Luther nailing the 95 Theses to the church door.
