Description:

The K-12 Initiative Logo: Director, Marcia Pomeroy worked with former Academy student, Ator Ighalo while he finished his Public Health Capstone Project at KUMC. Ator chose Saturday Academy as his project and requested areas of support he could help with while working his project. Marcia requested funds and ideas to develop the K-12 Initiative Logo. The artist, Michael Toombs was brought to the table to draw and then paint the Logo.

I asked to have our 4 educational partners and separate programs interchanged as needed. Michael painted around the outside of the Logo, KCKCC with a graduation hat with the KCKCC Logo on top of the hat. He painted our serving district, KCKPS, our parent organization, Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) and KUMC. Four, KU Jay Hawk beaks were the separating pieces for the 4 organizations. The Tree of Knowledge was placed on the interior of the Logo. Michael asked former student now technology instructor, Dar Hossieni to take the canvas painting and make a computer graphic Logo for our letters, brochures, newsletters and more. Marcia asked Dar if he could add all the programs of the K-12 Initiative on its own logo which he did. The white capital letters on the interior of the Logo, TAW stand for The Academy Way.
