The War of Spanish Succession began in 1701 and ended in 1714. The conflict arose from multiple claims to the Spanish throne after the death of Charles II. England, France and the Dutch republic all laid claim to the throne of Spain. Treaties of Utrecht, Rastatt and Baden ended the war of succession and split the Spanish territories among the nations.
