Upon his arrival, Gondul found the bridge leading into Fort Amol heavily guarded by Pact soldiers, denying entry to several people due to the inns being full.

Hokurek, one of the guards, told Gondul off, presuming he was with the others. Upon being told the influx of visitors was due to a meeting between the leaders of the Ebonheart Pact, Hokurek redirects Gondul to Commander Yjarnn.

Upon speaking with him, the Commander was extremely annoyed at Gondul's presence and persistent questions. Begrudgingly, Commander Yjarnn accepted Gondul's offer to help him find one of his missing men, a man named Thod. In exchange for his help, Commander Yjarnn promised to reveal what the Pact leaders were meeting for.

Shortly thereafter, Gondul found Thod passed out drunk. Unable to wake him, Gondul stole his armor and helmet, using it as a disguise to slip past the guards at the bridge.

After doing so, a woman named Hloenor Chill-Owl halted him, claiming that if he was still looking for Thod, he need not worry — he had just left with the Commander for the barracks. Gondul explained that this was impossible, as he just stumbled across Thod.

Gondul headed to the barracks to confirm what the woman claimed, finding Commander Yjarnn lecturing a noble man named Lord Vurlop. Gondul questioned him afterwards, inquiring about Thod.

After a brief discussion, Lord Vurlop asked that Gondul trail Commander Yjarnn to see if his recent suspicions of him were accurate.

After trailing the Commander for a brief while, Gondul stumbled upon a meeting between him and a Nord woman named Marla. They spoke in suspicious ways, leading Gondul to investigate the woman's house for clues.

Upon doing so, he found several corpses — including the bodies of Marla and Commander Yjarnn. On a nearby dresser was a note detailing the use of potions that evoked Daedric illusion magic.

Gondul was caught by the fake Marla inside the home, who tried to kill him. A fight ensued, and Gondul killed the woman. He quickly reported the news back to Hloenor, who promised to share the news with others.
