Description:
British people traveled to America for a new life for several different reasons. Some came to America because the practice of primogeniture in Britain meant that they would not inherit anything. Others came to the colonies because of the **lucrative cash crops like tobacco.** Many also sought religious freedom in the colonies. Several colonies had been founded on the basis of religious freedom. For example William Penn established a safe haven for Quakers and Lord Baltimore established a safe haven for Catholics.
