Description:

1990 Walt Shublom (1923-2008) is inducted into Kansas Sports Hall of Fame. He was one of the nation’s most successful high school basketball coaches leading Wyandotte High School to 10 state championships, and three second-place finishes in 14 seasons from 1955-1969. He posted an incredible 296-26 record at Wyandotte with two of his teams finishing the season unbeaten. After Wyandotte, he became the University of Missouri freshman coach in 1969 and in two years guided the freshman to 21 wins and 2 loses. He then became the head coach at Kansas City Kansas Community College for 11 seasons retiring in 1982. Shublom, who was from Salina, Kansas, was inducted into the National High School Federation Hall of Fame in 1982. He published a book on coaching titled "The Ways of a Champion".
