1981 Larry Drew b. 1956 played in NBA from 1981-1991. He was a graduate of Wyandotte High School in 1976. He received a scholarship to the University of Missouri where he became the first true point guard of the modern era from 1976-1980. At the end of his collegiate career he was second all-time at MU in scoring and led in many categories, including assists. Drew was selected in the first round of the 1980 draft by the Detroit Pistons. He played for several pro teams including the Kansas City Kings that later became the Sacramento Kings. During his ten-year career he scored 8,110 points with an 11.4 point per game average. After his NBA career he enjoyed playing in the Italian league with Scavolini. Drew returned to the U.S. and became an assistant coach in the NBA for many years before becoming a head basketball coach. In 2018 he coached the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA championship. In 2018 he was elected on the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.
