Description:
IEEE WIE ENIS SFAX Student Affinity Group co-organized Girls in ICT day, which an event
that aims to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women
to consider careers in the growing field of ICTs.
It was a full day event and it was exclusive for young women:
During the morning, and after the registration and the opening, there was a motivational talk
about woman leadership development by Pr. Ahlem Ben Othman (leadership coach) then we had
a coffee break and after that the hackathon was lunched by Pr. Ilhem KALLEL who arranged the
teams and presented the theme.
The hackathon was about finding solutions for some of the biggest life challenges that women
are facing nowadays through technology and since high school girls are not familiar with coding
yet, IEEE WIE ENIS SB members helped coaching each team by assisting them with developing
their prototypes.
On the afternoon, there was an ICT Quiz followed by a first skills club presentation, a Microsoft
club presentation and women in engineering presentation by our committee, after that we had
lunch and we watched an amazing video that contained messages recorded by role models from
around the world and it was prepared by madam Lamia CHAARI.
During the evening, the hackathon participants presented their ideas and showed a great passion
for both technology and activism, then the final pitch took place and the winners were announced
and awarded with prizes.
