Description:

In 1952, Robert P. Hudson, M.D. (a graduate of KCKCC in 1945) starts an annual students award for the best teacher at the medical school. In 1955 Hudson started the Lunar Society an informal literary discussion group for KU Medical Center senior medical students. Besides serving as a doctor at the hospital he also taught a course in the history of medicine at the college. In 1983, Hudson published Disease and Its Control: The Shaping of Modern Thought which examined the major concepts that led to our present understanding of disease and its control in Western Civilization.
