Description:

Robert and Julia Monroe escaped from Clay County, Missouri, in 1856. With the help of the Wyandot and Delaware Native Americans, they were one of the first families to settle in the Quindaro area.
Jacob, John, and Jefferson Grigsby Sr. (brothers) arrived from Liberty, Missouri. Jefferson Grigsby Sr. later married Millie Graves resided in Quindaro.
Other families were the Banks, Barnetts, Creeks, Crittendens, Endicotts, Harris, Murrays, Saunders, Turners, and Walkers.
