mar 28, 1949 - Errett P. Scrivner and support of HR 3659

Description:

March 28.Errett P. Scrivner, of Kansas, appears before the Indian Affairs Committee of the Committee on Public Lands in opposition to HR 2022. He declares himself a spokesman for the Wyandot descendants in Kansas who he considers as legitimately a part of the Wyandot Nation as the 1949 reorganized remnant in Oklahoma. He argued that the Committee must consider the rights of the members of the Wyandott nation who did not again become wards of the Government; and the rights, if any, of the 1949 Wyandottes of Oklahoma made up of certain former members of the Wyandott Nation. He expressed support of HR 3659 to make the cemetery a National Monument. Excerpts of Letters of protest from Wyandot descendants whose relatives are buried in the cemetery are read. (WNK)
