Description:
One of the major W.P.A. projects in Wyandotte County was the Wyandotte County Lake and Lake Dam. Building construction began on January 15, 1936 and continued until June 23, 1943 when the WPA halted funding. The remainder of the project was completed with county funds and ended in 1946. The beginning estimate of $1,250,000 ballooned to $2,611,839 with the cost of rebuilding and completing the project.Added to timeline:
