Description:

January 1. Representative Newell George (D-Ks) Introduces HR. 2334 so that the Secretary of the Interior shall make a full and complete investigation and study of the feasibility of establishing Huron Cemetery as a national shrine and monument in order to commemorate the important role played by the Wyandotte Indian Nation in the history of the State of Kansas and of the United States to preserve the burial ground as a permanent place of historical interest. HR also would block the transfer, sale or other disposition of the land until after the Secretary of the Interior has made the report to Congress. HR also called for the Public Law 887 of August 1, 1956 to be repealed. (WNK)
