jan 1, 1818 - Four Houses Site
Description:
An Historic Period site, included the first fur trading post in Kansas built by Francis and Cyprian Chouteau and three other buildings. When they left the Four Houses site, they moved to Chouteau's Landing which became Kansas City Missouri. The Four Houses site was given to Mr. Tiblow (Bonner Springs) and his son Henry in 1830. Henry operated a ferry from the landing at that location.
This is a significant but generally unrecognized site in Wyandotte County.
