jul 14, 1940 - Under Vichy France,
Francis is forced to serve in the army and has
his inventions (including ANA) taken from him in a house raid,
except for a diary and a copy of his notes, which he kept secret.
On the same day, Francis meets James "Jim" Morales,
his pregnant (yet hardened) wife Marie Chateau,
American Vance Ritter, and former childhood friend Sophie Delmas,
while on a military bus on course for Lyon, France. They fight, knowing
they're on the wrong side, but the punishment
for disobeying is
severe.
