Description:
- Two French armies took up positions on hills around Valmy- Kellerman with 36,000 French troops took up a position West of Valmy
- Brunswick took up position on another line of hills 2,500 yards West of Kellerman
- Brunswick, after some long range attacks, ordered am advance from his Prussian army, expecting the French infantry to break once the 'famous' Prussian army was on the move
- When the French stood still Brunswick cancelled the attack
- A more determined Prussian attack followed a lucky strike of a French weapons wagon creating massive explosion, the Prussian army came within 650 yards of the French
- Brunswick called off the attack and at 16:00 abandoned the battle
- 164 Prussian casualties, 300 French
