Description:

- Formed by representatives of the Third Estate
- Refused the voting terms of the Estates General and met on their own
- When they met they declared that all existing taxes to have been illegally imposed
- restored confidence of the capitalists and gave them strong interest in keeping the National Assembly in session
- The Assembly provided substance for food shortages for the poor
- Louis XVI decided to annul the National Assembly's decrees
- On the 19th June Louis XVI ordered the hall where the National Assembly met to be closed
- This led to the Tennis Court Oath
