jan 1, 750 BC - Zapotec settlement attacked, temple burned

Description:

No one knows who was attacking the Zapotecs, but we do know the Zapotecs defeated their enemies, rebuilt the temple, and added a sculpture of a bleeding enemy on the front step of the temple so citizens could stomp on it while entering their temple. On the feet of this statue are small symbols, which are the first example of writing in this culture.
