"The Black Cat" is a short story by American author Edgar Allan Poe. It was first distributed in the August 19, 1843, version of The Saturday Evening Post. It is an investigation of the brain science of blame, regularly combined in examination with Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart". In both, a killer cautiously disguises his wrongdoing and trusts himself unassailable, however in the long run separates and uncovers himself, affected by a bothering token of his blame.
