jan 1, 1851 - Indian Appropriation Act

Description:

This event is a change, establishing the present day Native American reservation system. It can also be viewed as a continuity in that the U.S. government is once again moving Native Americans from lands that white settlers want. The reservation system was established to protect the Native Americans from the white setters who were continuing to move Westward.
