The bomber had created a makeshift explosive that combined shrapnel with anticoagulant rat poison with the intent to prevent victim's wounds from clotting. Investigators found that the bomber had been a 2004 member of the white supremacist organization the National Alliance. Its founder was William Pierce who authored the 'Turner Diaries,' which details a race war. The bomber had planned to detonate the makeshift explosive during the MLK memorial parade in Spokane, Washington.
