Description:
Although Thomas Jefferson approved the admittance of Ohio to the Union on February 19th, Congress did not follow through with the paperwork. In 1953, Congress found this oversight and Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a law that retroactively made Ohio a state based on the March 1, 1803 date.
