jan 1, 1774 - Intolerable Acts
Description:
The Intolerable Acts were a series of laws passed by Britain in 1774 after the colonists’ Boston Tea Party protest. They were made to punish the colonists for rebelling against the British laws and acts passed previously. The acts closed down the Boston port until the colonists paid back the damages. Many more laws such as the Administration of Justice Act, Quartering Act, and the Massachusetts Government Act really encroached on the colonists’ rights and enraged them to the point of creating the First Continental Congress which created the Continental Association which was an agreement to boycott British goods, and after a year to stop exporting to Britain. This was a huge factor of pushing the colonists to rebellion.
