Description:

The Dutch Republic chartered the colony of New Netherland (claims shown in green in the first picture, actual settlements shown in purple in the second picture), to be colonized by the Dutch West India Company. This was the Dutch's only colony in North America, and was annexed by England in 1664 and divided into New York, New Jersey, and Delaware.
