Description:

The colony of Carolina was chartered to eight English noblemen, the Lords Proprietors. It was created in order to serve as an obstacle to northern Spanish expansion. It began as part of the Caribbean colony of Barbados, the richest plantation economy in the area. Due to the small size of the island, people began to move from there to Carolina.
