Description:
Most people in the middle ages lived in small towns. These towns were called manors. some fiefs only included one manor whilst others under control of important lords and knights had many manors in them. residents worked for the lord in exchange for protection later called manorialism. Entering a relationship with a lord the free farmers became serfs. Not being able to leae the land. This transmission was slow however in the year 800 60 percent, completely free a century before was now in serfdom.
