may 2, 1947 - 22nd February 1946: Long telegram is received. Telegram from American Diplomat in Russia to Truman explaining that the USSR could not be negotiated and a tougher stance was needed. Convinced Truman that the way to deal with the soviets was a containment policy. A strategy intended to prevent the USSR from expanding.
