Description:
An attack by the Powhatan Confederacy on the Virginia colonists that started the Second Anglo-Powhatan War. The Powhatan felt that the colonists were a danger to their way of life, as the English had made numerous attempts to encroach upon Native American land and convert them to Christianity. Powhatan warriors led by Opechancanough shared fruit and meat with the colonists to hide their intentions, then launched a sudden surprise attack, sparing no one they could find. The colonists would later suffer from starvatino due to a harsh winter, which killed an additional 400.
